Alexander Parker Business and Entrepreneur Award of Excellence Plan

Purpose

The Alexander Parker Business and Entrepreneur Award of Excellence recognizes and honors outstanding Minority business leaders who have demonstrated exceptional business acumen, innovation, leadership, and community impact within Guilford County. This award will be presented during the Minority Economic Mobility Symposium to celebrate their contributions to economic growth and empowerment in the minority community.

Award Categories

1.Business Excellence Award: For an established business leader who has shown sustained success and growth in their business endeavors.

2.Innovative Entrepreneur Award: For an entrepreneur who has introduced groundbreaking ideas, products, or services that have significantly impacted their industry or community.

3.Community Impact Award: For a business leader whose work has profoundly affected the local community, particularly in promoting economic mobility and social equity.

Nomination Criteria

Nominations for the Alexander Parker Business and Entrepreneur Award of Excellence will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

1. Business Excellence Award
  • Business Growth: Demonstrated consistent business growth and success over a minimum of five years.
  • Leadership: Exemplary leadership qualities that inspire and motivate others.
  • Industry Impact: Significant contributions to their industry through innovation, service, or products.
  • Financial Performance: Proven track record of financial stability and profitability.
2. Innovative Entrepreneur Award
  • Innovation: Introduction of innovative ideas, products, or services that have disrupted or enhanced their industry.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Demonstration of risk-taking, creativity, and resilience in business ventures.
  • Market Impact: Successful penetration and impact in the market with their innovation.
  • Future Potential: Clear vision and potential for growth and influence.
3. Community Impact Award
  • Community Engagement: Active involvement in community initiatives and programs that promote economic mobility and social equity.

  • Social Responsibility: Implement business practices prioritizing social and environmental responsibility.

  • Positive Outcomes: Tangible positive outcomes in the local community due to their efforts.

  • Mentorship and Support: Contribution to the development and support of other local businesses and entrepreneurs

Nomination Process

Call for Nominations: Announce the call for nominations through various channels, including the symposium website, social media, local media, and community organizations.

Submission of Nominations: Nominations can be submitted online through a designated form. The form should include:

  • Nominee’s name, business name, and contact information.
  • A detailed description of the nominee’s achievements and contributions to the selected award category.
  • Supporting documents such as financial reports, testimonials, and media coverage.

Selection Committee: Form a selection committee comprising respected business leaders, community members, and previous award recipients.

Evaluation: The selection committee reviews all nominations based on the established criteria and selects the top three candidates in each category.

Announcement of Finalists: Publicly announce the finalists and invite them to the symposium.

Award Presentation: Present the awards during the Minority Economic Mobility Symposium, highlighting the achievements of each recipient

2025 Catalyst for Change Award: Honoring Black Men Who Ignite Progress

In the vibrant tapestry of the Triad, countless Black men thread the needle of resilience, determination, and unwavering optimism. These are the men who break barriers, not boundaries. The leaders who empower their communities, not just themselves. They are the architects of change, building bridges from “the block to the boardroom” and paving the way for Black men not just to survive but to thrive.

City Help of the Triad proudly presents the 2025 Catalyst for Change Award, a beacon shining upon these extraordinary individuals. We seek to celebrate Black men who embody the spirit of progress:

Visionaries

Those who identify challenges and forge innovative solutions, leaving a lasting impact on education, healthcare, economic empowerment, or social justice

Mentors and Champions

Individuals who dedicate themselves to uplifting others, guiding the next generation of Black leaders with wisdom and support.

Bridge Builders

Leaders who connect communities, dismantle barriers, and foster collaboration across sectors and demographics.

Trailblazers

Pioneers who shatter glass ceilings and redefine success, inspiring future generations to break new ground.

This award is not just recognition. It is a celebration. It is a resounding affirmation that Black men are the catalysts for the Triad’s bright future. Their stories deserve to be amplified, their achievements lauded, and their impact acknowledged.
